We’re Mark and Wendy Donohue, proud founders of Leaf Water Farms, LLC—a family-run hydroponic farm born from purpose, passion, and a whole lot of heart.

After three decades in the corporate world, two decades of happy marriage, and nearly as many years raising our family, we knew it was time to build something of our own—something lasting, meaningful, and rooted in the values we hold dear.

So we got honest about what fuels us:

  • Love for nutritious food and a desire to promote healthy lifestyles
  • Shared excitement for solving hard problems and rising to new challenges
  • Deep, unwavering trust in each other as partners in life and work
  • A dream of building a family business that leaves a positive mark on the world

After months of research, deliberation and examination of various market opportunities, that dream led us to something unexpected—and completely energizing:

HYDROPONIC ORGANIC FARMING !

Over the course of just 120 days, our home and garage transformed into a full-fledged R&D lab. We built and tested custom hydroponic systems, perfected our organic fertilizer blends, fine-tuned year-round climate settings, and mapped the ideal harvest windows for each leafy green, microgreen, cucumber, tomato, and edible flower.

But the best part? We invited a community of chefs, family, friends, and food lovers to taste every crop—our very own Tasting Team. Their feedback shaped our offerings and confirmed what we already knew: we were onto something special.

Now, with hearts full and systems dialed in, we’re thrilled to officially launch Leaf Water Farms on September 15, 2025.

At Leaf Water Farms, everything we grow is chemical-free (no herbicides or pesticides), non-GMO, and harvested with love—right here in Massachusetts. Our produce travels from our table to yours in hours, not days, and it’s our mission to bring freshness, flavor, and the highest quality to every bite.

The Founders

Mark Donohue

Mark spent 30 years as a finance professional and spent the last seven years as CFO at private and public technology companies. He has two Masters degrees and he knows how to run and scale complex businesses to profitability. He is also an avid builder and designer, which has given him the ability to quickly master hydroponic systems required to be successful at a very affordable price. Mark is a born problem solver and is ready to own and help run the new family business.

Wendy Donohue

Wendy adds over 20 years of marketing and communications leadership to Leaf Water Farms. Although she stepped away from her full-time career to focus on raising their children, Wendy became a respected community advocate and builder of local community programs (including, recycling, food rescue, school reform and spearheaded building a new playground) to help enhance the family-friendly environment in Andover, MA. These efforts earned her the Rotary Club’s “Citizens Who Care” Award, presented by the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2017. Wendy leads branding, outreach and community engagement.
