We’re Mark and Wendy Donohue, proud founders of Leaf Water Farms, LLC—a family-run hydroponic farm born from purpose, passion, and a whole lot of heart.

After three decades in the corporate world, two decades of happy marriage, and nearly as many years raising our family, we knew it was time to build something of our own—something lasting, meaningful, and rooted in the values we hold dear.

So we got honest about what fuels us:

  • Love for nutritious food and a desire to promote healthy lifestyles
  • Shared excitement for solving hard problems and rising to new challenges
  • Deep, unwavering trust in each other as partners in life and work
  • A dream of building a family business that leaves a positive mark on the world

After months of research, deliberation and examination of various market opportunities, that dream led us to something unexpected—and completely energizing:

Hydroponic Organic Farming!

Over the course of just 120 days, our home and garage transformed into a full-fledged R&D lab. We built and tested custom hydroponic systems, perfected our organic fertilizer blends, fine-tuned year-round climate settings, and mapped the ideal harvest windows for each leafy green, microgreen, cucumber, tomato, and edible flower.

But the best part? We invited a community of chefs, family, friends, and food lovers to taste every crop—our very own Tasting Team. Their feedback shaped our offerings and confirmed what we already knew: we were onto something special.

Now, with hearts full and systems dialed in, we’re thrilled to officially launch Leaf Water Farms on September 15, 2025.

At Leaf Water Farms, everything we grow is herbicide-, fungicide- and pesticide-free, non-GMO, and harvested with love—right here in Massachusetts. Our produce travels from our table to yours in hours, not days, and it’s our mission to bring freshness, flavor, and the highest quality to every bite.

The Founders

  • Mark Donohue

    Mark brings 30 years of finance, operations, and engineering leadership to Leaf Water Farms. His career includes senior roles overseeing complex systems, streamlining operations, and driving growth in corporate settings. At the farm, Mark manages finance, infrastructure, and technology, applying his expertise to build efficient, scalable hydroponic systems. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, he ensures Leaf Water Farms delivers high-quality, organic and chemical free produce while laying the foundation for long-term growth.

  • Wendy Donohue

    Wendy brings over 20 years of marketing and communications experience to Leaf Water Farms. After pausing her career to raise her children, she became a leading community advocate in Andover, MA—launching recycling and food rescue initiatives, championing school reform, and spearheading the design of the Andover Center Playground. In 2017, she received the Rotary Club’s Citizens Who Care Award, presented by the MA House of Representatives. Wendy leads branding, outreach, and community engagement for Leaf Water Farms.

Mark and Wendy share a vision rooted in sustainability, family and community. Their complemetary strengths - Mark's financial acumen and operational expertise, paired with Wendy's strategic marketing and community leadership - form the foundation for Leaf Water Farms.

With hard work, dedication and heart, they approach every head of lettuce, tray of microgreens and bloom of every edible flower as if they were growing it for their own family. Their mission is to nourish the local community with food that's as fresh, local and honest as the values they live by.
